Passinho (small step) is the latest trendy style from Brazil’s vivacious dance metropole Rio de Janeiro. It emerged from juvenile gangs of the favelas and, thanks to youtube, has gone viral across other urban centres and beyond. The Brazilan choreographer Alice Ripoll has developed a varied and infectious choreography with ten passinho fans which shows that the young dancers can take a lot more than just small steps. (esc)
